JOB SUMMARY:
· To design, direct, coordinate, and produce visual materials for Client Foundation and Client affiliates in a variety of mediums, including: books, magazines, brochures, physical displays, posters, and electronic mediums including web design, electronic presentations, and multimedia products.
· The Senior Designer is an integral team member who, in addition to their normal production activities, provides art direction, proof checks, outsourcing management, image manipulation, job bidding, and direct customer consultation.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
· Two (2) year minimum employment experience required.
· (Portfolio required for review.) Incumbents must have a thorough knowledge of typography, type design, form and colour theory, proportion and balance, photographic and computer imaging techniques, electronic layout skills, exhibit/display knowledge and experience with unit specific software programs (see unit specific competencies).
· Candidates must be flexible, resourceful, and possess strong project management and interpersonal skills while effectively meeting deadlines under pressure.
· Candidates must also be able to work independently, give and receive clear and concise direction, and possess excellent problem-solving skills.
EDUCATION:
· Requires a BFA or BA degree in Graphic Design or Design Technology from an accredited university, college, or school of design.
· The Senior Designer is active in the development and mentoring of other designers within the unit.
· The Senior Designer is commonly know as a high level performer both in volume and level of excellence of work within the unit.
· The Senior Designer possesses the highest level of technical and creative skills and is known within the unit as a go-to resource for other designers.
· The Senior Designer is an information resource for supervisors and management, keeping them abreast of latest technologies, techniques, and trends.
· The Senior Designer may also be asked to represent their unit by sitting on committees and task forces within the Institution.
· In addition, the Senior Designer can also be expected to lead teams on larger, more complicated projects including inter-divisional projects.
