About OTA

Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) represents and supports the continually evolving occupational therapy profession. Our vision is to support the profession so that people and communities are engaged in occupations that bring meaning and purpose to their lives, fostering health, wellbeing participation and inclusion.

OTA champions occupational therapists to support their community. As Australia's peak body and professional membership association for occupational therapy with over 13,000 members, OTA fosters evidence-based practice, enables lifelong learning and promotes the future of occupational therapy. We are incredibly proud of the work we do in delivering professional development, advocacy, practice standards, collegial networking, and broader member services, and we have big goals over the coming years.

Our Values

  • PROGRESS: We believe in strongly representing and leading occupational therapy by looking ahead and anticipating the needs of the profession and the communities that we serve. We are a point of connection and a driving force in paving the way forward by providing a strong, united voice.
  • PRIDE: We believe in the irreplaceable value occupational therapists make in the lives of those they serve. Inspired by the dedication and achievements of those we represent, we shine the spotlight on the profession and empower ongoing achievement and success throughout their professional careers.
  • EMPOWERMENT: We believe in protecting and progressing the profession through lifelong learning and development. We are the collector, curator, contributor and disseminator of evidence based learning and ongoing knowledge, understanding and translation to action.
  • CONNECTION: We believe in the unity of the profession and act as a beacon for all who are occupational therapists, those who use our skills and services and those who support our profession.

What does the role involve

We have an exciting opportunity for a Creative Designer to join our Marketing & Communications team. Reporting to the Head of Marketing & Communications, you’ll bring OTA’s brand to life through high-quality graphic design across print and digital.

This is first and foremost a graphic design role, with around 80% of your time focused on design. You’ll develop visual concepts and creative, designed brochures, flyers, posters, merchandise and event signage, and create digital assets including web and email graphics and banners, email templates and presentations. You’ll take briefs from concept through to finished artwork, bringing strong design judgement and attention to detail at every stage.

You’ll also be a key custodian of OTA’s visual identity, maintaining brand templates and assets and helping people across the organisation apply the brand consistently, including our adherence to AAA accessibility standards. You’ll manage print production, liaise with printers and merchandise suppliers, maintain our image library and manage the creative and operational aspects of OTA’s merchandise ranges and print-on-demand store.

Around 20% of the role will involve multimedia – editing and repurposing video, creating simple animations and motion graphics, and working with Marketing & Communications colleagues to produce polished branded content for digital channels.

What we need in the role

We’re looking for a skilled designer with strong graphic design fundamentals, an excellent eye for layout and visual consistency, and the creative judgement to make every piece of work look its best.

You’re confident taking a brief and turning it into an effective visual solution. You care about the details, understand good design and know how to get the best from an established brand identity.

You’ll also bring an understanding of what works visually across social and digital channels, designing with mobile and digital engagement in mind and keeping across emerging video and content trends.

Just as importantly, you’re easy to work with. As OTA’s sole in-house designer, you’ll work primarily with people who aren’t designers. You can understand what they’re trying to achieve, provide expert advice and turn their requirements into effective creative solutions. You’re patient with feedback, highly organised, comfortable juggling competing briefs in a high volume environment and take pride in producing consistently high-quality work.
