Description

Full job description

We’re looking for a talented mid-level Creative Designer to join The Agency.

We’re a small, experienced brand consultancy based in the Midlands, working with businesses across the UK and internationally.

For nearly 20 years, we’ve helped organisations – often in complex or technical sectors – become clearer, more distinctive and easier to understand.

We’re now looking for another creative to join the team. Someone with good ideas, a strong eye for design and the confidence to get involved in the thinking, not just wait for a finished brief.

The role

There’s plenty of variety.

You might be helping shape a new brand identity, developing a campaign, designing a website or presentation, or working on a relatively small piece of day-to-day client activity.

We value all of it.

Some projects give you plenty of room to explore creatively. Others involve working within established global brand guidelines where accuracy, consistency and attention to detail really matter. We need someone who understands the difference – and takes the same pride in both.

You’ll work across brand identity, campaigns, digital, packaging, presentations, websites, content and wider marketing communications, often taking an idea from an initial thought through to finished execution.

You’ll work closely with the rest of the team but will also be trusted to take ownership of your own projects.

And because we’re a small team, you won’t be hidden away behind the work. You’ll contribute to conversations, explain your ideas and, where appropriate, talk clients through your thinking.

What we’re looking for

We’re thinking around 3–6 years' professional design experience, although the quality of your portfolio and the way you think matter more to us than an exact number.

You’ll ideally be someone who:

  • Has strong ideas and a good eye for typography, layout and visual detail
  • Can take work from concept through to polished final artwork
  • Is equally comfortable creating something new or working carefully within an established brand
  • Communicates confidently and can explain the thinking behind the work
  • Takes feedback well and enjoys developing ideas collaboratively
  • Is organised, dependable and comfortable juggling projects of different sizes
  • Cares about the details – particularly when the details really matter
  • Is curious about the businesses and audiences we’re designing for

You’ll need strong Adobe Creative Cloud skills, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Figma is becoming increasingly important to the way we work, so good working knowledge would be a definite advantage. Motion, After Effects, web design or digital content experience would also be useful.

But ultimately, we’re more interested in finding a really good designer who thinks about the purpose behind the work than someone who ticks every software box.

A little about us

We deliberately keep The Agency relatively small.

That means you’ll work closely with experienced people, see projects from beginning to end and have a genuine influence on the work.

We work remotely for much of the time, but we’re not a collection of people working in isolation. We talk regularly, share work, challenge ideas and get together as a team and with clients when it makes sense.

We care about producing good work, looking after our clients and being people that others enjoy working with.

If that sounds like the kind of environment you’d enjoy, we’d like to hear from you.

Please send us your CV, portfolio and a short introduction telling us a little about you and the kind of work you enjoy doing.

Location: Remote-first, ideally within reasonable travelling distance of the Midlands specifically Birmingham and Leamington

Pay: £32,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
