Job Description Job Summary The Creative Direct Marketing Specialist is responsible for partnering with sales to secure new direct marketing opportunities. Focusing on ownership, direction, and management of the creative development and format design process. Applies an understanding of clients' business needs and direct marketing principles to bring direct marketing programs to life with a focus on increasing ROI. This position is also responsible for the management and growth of current client relationships as well as the development, documentation, and communication of client expectations. May also manage production on assigned accounts. Provides guidance, mentoring, training, and leadership to other members of the Client Services team. Responsibilities Partners with Clients, Sales reps, Strategists, Creative, Copywriting, and other resource groups as required to design, develop and execute strategic marketing and testing plans. Applies knowledge of direct marketing best practices and trends to client opportunities, with a focus to increase ROI on clients' direct marketing efforts. Reviews specifications developed to meet the client's direct marketing objectives for adherence to platform capabilities. Accurately communicates client requirements to internal or external production/service providers. Develop relationships with client contacts in order to enhance the client experience and identify new opportunities to engage in their business. Acts as the primary point of contact and communication link between external clients and all internal departments. Manages all aspects of the creative design process, as well as serves as the quarterback for all other direct marketing-related services on behalf of the client. Write project briefs and work with clients throughout the entire creative process Provide creative, design, and strategy recommendations using knowledge of direct marketing practices as well as the products, features, and capabilities of the Direct Marketing Group assets. Engage creative resources and manage the creative development process Manages the estimating and client pricing functions for assigned accounts; may assist sales with forecasting and other pre-sale activities. May review the quality of the work for other client care staff to ensure all information is accounted for and accurate before execution Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned. May train and mentor other client care staff members. Maintains current knowledge of all operating procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Leads strategic accounts Corrective Action process on behalf of sales/client including investigative root cause and actionable improvements. Serves as the lead on behalf of the customer and internal RRD stakeholders, participating in or leading client meetings or client business reviews Initiates and manages solutions to complex or unusual issues, coordinating with sales as appropriate. Facilitates the onboarding of new client tools/requirements, the resolution of production-related problems, and conducts appropriate service recovery processes. Assists in the facilitation of creating prototypes and development of custom print pieces. As needed, may travel to or work at the client site, production facility, or other sites as required and attend press check with the client. May oversee the production process from order entry until final delivery and invoicing of customer’s product, ensuring customer requirements are met to ensure completeness. Maintains active communication with and provides job status updates to customers, sales, and manufacturing as needed. Ensures that work responsibilities will be covered during approved absences and unplanned absences, including by providing written and verbal status updates to backup. Coordinates gathering of account history and information required and partners with sales to develop materials for and participates in Strategic Business Reviews with clients. Manages and develops relationships with client contacts to further penetrate the business by identifying additional communication opportunities within assigned accounts. Qualifications Skills and Certifications Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills to communicate effectively with clients and across departments to influence decision making Excellent knowledge of computers, MS Office, MS Office, Google Drive/Chrome. Ability to make presentations and quickly learn new programs and multiple functional areas of the business specific to the job. Excellent working knowledge of the functional area(s) and good knowledge of primary tools or applications used on the job. Ability to train others on these tools. Able to demonstrate the ability to solve complex problems by analyzing variables and applying appropriate solutions learned through experience and proficiency in understanding the job. Must be able to recognize anomalies and critical situations and respond appropriately Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload and make adjustments to meet business needs. Proficient in direct mail print production equipment and methodologies Strong working knowledge of USPS rules and regulations is required Strong working knowledge of list processing and data programming is required Knowledge of and ability to apply direct mail creative strategy, design & analytics 4 Year / Bachelors Degree - Related to Functional Work with 7 years relevant work experience in Direct Marketing Additional Information The national pay range for this role is $77,900 - $124,600. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
