About the Role X Games is seeking a Creative Director to lead the visual identity and creative expression for one of the most iconic brands in action sports. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this role is responsible for defining and protecting the X Games brand across all touchpoints, including digital media, marketing campaigns, merchandise, sponsorship integrations, and live events. The Creative Director will ensure that every visual expression of X Games reflects the culture, energy, and authenticity of action sports. We are building a lean and entrepreneurial team. This role is ideal for someone who can both set creative direction and execute, working closely with internal teams and external partners to bring the X Games brand to life. You’re not at all afraid to mess up your manicure, if you will. Responsibilities Brand Leadership Own and evolve the visual identity of X Games across all platforms Ensure brand consistency across marketing, content, partnerships, and events Develop brand guidelines and creative standards for the organization Creative Direction Lead the creative development of marketing campaigns, event creative, and promotional assets Oversee design for digital media, social content, and major brand moments Partner with the content and marketing teams to develop visually compelling storytelling Partnership & Merchandise Creative Collaborate with licensing partners (including CAA) on merchandise design and collaborations Provide creative direction for sponsorship integrations and branded experiences Ensure brand integrity across all partner-facing creative Event Creative Guide the visual identity of X Games events, including signage, graphics, and on-site creative elements Collaborate with event operations and broadcast teams to ensure the event environment reflects the brand Creative Production Manage designers, freelancers, and creative agencies as needed Work hands-on to develop and refine creative assets when necessary Maintain high creative standards while operating in a fast-paced, resourceful environment Qualifications 10+ years of experience in brand design, creative direction, or visual storytelling Strong portfolio demonstrating brand-building work across digital, campaigns, and live environments Experience working with youth culture, sports, lifestyle, or entertainment brands Comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment where leaders are hands-on Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across marketing, content, partnerships, and events Backgrounds we love to see: Sports and lifestyle brands Creative agencies with strong cultural work Media or entertainment companies Apparel or youth culture brands The base salary range for this role is $140,000 – $170,000. Compensation is determined based on factors including (but not limited to) experience, skills, job-related knowledge, and geographic location.
