Role Description Koala is a global furniture brand with strong Australian roots, and this role is central to our growth in our home market. The Creative Lead is responsible for driving high-performing creative that fuels paid acquisition, supports brand building, and delivers commercial outcomes. This is a senior, hands-on role combining creative leadership with operational delivery, leading the local creative team and external partners to produce work that is strategically sharp, creatively strong, and built to perform at scale across paid channels. Key Responsibilities Creative Ideation and Execution Lead the creative ideation and execution for the Australian market across all local marketing channels, with a strong focus on paid acquisition Oversee concept development, design development, and production delivery, maintaining quality and performance standards throughout Partner closely with the Head of Marketing, AU to deliver creative aligned to growth targets, media strategy, and commercial goals Develop creative frameworks and concepts designed to scale across paid social, search, video, and emerging acquisition channels Ensure consistency of tone, design, and storytelling while optimising creative for channel, audience, and performance Team and Stakeholder Management Lead, coach, and develop the Australian creative team, including creative strategists, designers, copywriters, and editors Work with the global brand team to adapt and localise global brand assets for local marketing channels Manage external suppliers including agencies, photographers, videographers, production companies, and sound studios Own creative budgets, negotiate rates, and balance speed, quality, and cost to maximise ROI Creative Operations and Standards Identify and resolve creative, design, or production challenges quickly and pragmatically Develop and maintain design specifications and ensure compliance with relevant Australian standards Ideal background An Experienced Creative Marketer: You have 5+ years of experience leading creative across brand, product, and marketing, with a track record of owning work end to end. You are comfortable setting creative direction, not just executing someone else’s vision. Multichannel Creative Operator: You are confident working across mediums and formats, from static to motion, Figma to film, ads to apps. You understand how creative needs to flex across channels, including paid acquisition, without losing coherence or craft. Insight-Led and Customer-Driven: You are deeply tuned into people and behaviour. Your ideas are grounded in insight and understanding, not just instinct or personal taste. A Leader and Collaborator: You’ve led or grown creative teams and know how to give clear direction, raise the bar, and bring out the best in others. You work effectively with marketing, growth, and leadership stakeholders. Commercially Minded: You understand how creative supports growth and paid acquisition. You are comfortable balancing brand, performance, speed, and budget to deliver real marketing outcomes.
