Description The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for coordinating the onboarding and credentialing steps required for individuals to begin work in regulated, healthcare, or commercial environments. This includes managing documentation packets, reviewing and auditing forms, initiating background-screening tasks, and tracking credentialing milestones. The Credentialing Specialist supports onboarding activities across all client types - including government, healthcare systems, and commercial partners - ensuring new hires across all role types (administrative, clinical support, licensed professionals) complete required steps accurately and within established timeframes. Core Responsibilities Credentialing & Onboarding Process Initiate, distribute, and manage onboarding and credentialing packets for all new hires across government, healthcare, and commercial programs. Review all onboarding and credentialing documentation for completeness and accuracy; communicate corrections to new hires as needed. Track progress across all parallel onboarding phases and follow up with candidates, internal partners, and external agencies to maintain momentum. Prepare and submit credentialing documentation to appropriate internal reviewers or external partners and follow up on required corrections or updates. Ensure all onboarding components (drug screening, TB testing, training modules, etc.) align with government or commercial expectations. Maintain detailed, accurate credentialing files and tracking systems to reflect real-time candidate progress. Ensure credentialing readiness for subsequent payor enrollment activities. Customer Service Provide clear instructions, timelines, and next steps for government, healthcare, and commercial credentialing requirements. Maintain ongoing communication with internal departments and external client contacts, and applicants. Compliance Ensure credentialing and onboarding documentation meets federal, state, commercial, contractual, and organizational requirements. Maintain accurate, compliant credentialing records in alignment with internal policies and audit expectations. Identify issues, delays, or risks in the credentialing and onboarding processes and escalate them to the Director when necessary. Requirements High school diploma/GED required; associate degree preferred. Minimum 1 year of onboarding, credentialing, administrative, or customer service experience. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment. Experience with government or regulated onboarding processes preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with HRIS or workforce systems such as Paylocity, ADP Workforce, or similar platforms preferred. Prior experience supporting federal healthcare contracts strongly preferred. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
