SUMMARY

A credit analyst determining a business’s or individual’s credit worthiness. A credit analyst looks at all past credit purchases and, based on their findings, decides if a person or a corporation is worthy to receive a loan. Credit analysts must have excellent communication skills, be great listeners, and be able to perform multiple tasks. Credit analysts not only make decisions on credit worthiness; they also recommend steps to improve credit ratings. Customers can range from corporations to individuals trying to secure a loan.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior commercial lending or financial analysis experience preferred.
  • Prior work experience or understanding of financial and cash flow analysis.
  • PC proficiency, thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred – Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration/Management.
  • General knowledge of banking fundamentals.

Responsibilities

Assess credit risk, primarily associated with commercial lending including but not limited to C&I term loans, working capital loans and Commercial Real Estate Loans.

  • Aggregate and evaluate data related to credit and credit risk to support organizational decision-making.
  • Spread tax returns, financial statements, debt schedules, projections and other information that is necessary and relevant to analyze the request.
  • Work with Loan Officers to Ensure that loan accounts remain in good standing.
  • Assist Loan Officers with establishing structure and terms for credit requests based on Loan Policy and prior loan transactions.
  • Work with loan officers, underwriters and others to support the credit approval process, loan closing, and portfolio management activities.
  • Maintain accurate credit files, ensure compliance with lending policies and stay up-to-date on relevant regulatory matters.
  • Prepare credit presentations, annual reviews and other reports for senior management as requested.
  • Assist Loan Officers as needed, including following up with accountants, bookkeepers, insurance agents, or the loan applicants to obtain necessary information for the underwriting and documentation process.
