Responsibilities

THE ROLE

This role is part of a small operational team of credit risk underwriters, safeguarding our financial health by ensuring robust credit evaluation and proactive risk management. The team ensures that GC adopts, implements and maintains appropriate credit controls with the aim of managing credit losses whilst supporting revenue growth.
The core of the role is assessing and managing the credit risk associated with GC’s merchant base. You will be responsible for evaluating creditworthiness, conducting risk assessments, and developing creative strategies to mitigate potential credit losses.
This role will suit someone who is comfortable with a high degree of autonomy, can pick up the basics quickly and is comfortable owning their decisions.

Understanding new and existing business models with meticulous attention to detail. You’ll be expected to get underneath and look beyond the numbers when assessing creditworthiness for SMEs and Large corporates. Core responsibilities are:

  • Perform credit risk reviews and high risk onboarding processes that evaluate creditworthiness of prospective customers and risks associated with sales deals. Advise sales leadership on risk-adjusted pricing as needed.
  • Review complex credit decisions and escalations, making final determinations on approvals or conditions, escalating to management as needed.
  • Operate processes that manage existing customer risk, including requests for limit increases, changes to holding periods or new product access.
  • Perform continuous monitoring of existing portfolios, adapting limits, holding periods, cash covers or other mitigation tools as appropriate.
  • Respond quickly to risk alerts to prevent or minimize company losses
