Merchants Bank Equipment Finance, located in Edina, has an opening for a Credit Analyst. Primary duties include analyzing financial statements and tax returns accompanying a lease/loan request. This includes inputting information into financial spreading software, recognizing trends, and preparing the final lease/loan request presentation. Opportunity to go hybrid after 6-9 months based on performance.
Prior experience of 3-5 years in lending, leasing, underwriting, accounting, or trend analysis preferred. Would be beneficial to have a background in a Leasing, Commercial or Agriculture lending environment.

MENTAL DEMANDS/EDUCATION:

Requires BS/BA Degree, preferably with a Business Administration, Accounting or Finance degree, and 3-5 years previous credit analyst experience preferred. Strong analytical skills; excellent people skills. Requires individual with strong oral and written communication skills; ability to express ideas in a clear, thorough, and concise manner.
Requires above-average aptitude in the area of math/number skills. Above-average ability in written communication, including word process and Excel proficiency. Strong ability in problem analysis.
Amiable personality. Must be an excellent team worker.

Responsibilities
  • Complete an interpretive analysis of financial statements for lease/loan relationships and prepare lease/loan presentations for the successful approval of commercial and agriculture leases/loans. This includes developing credit information for use by the Merchants Bank Management Loan Committee in making lending decisions on new and renewal leases or loans.
  • Review and analyze all pertinent credit and financial information, including PayNet reports, credit bureau reports, financial reports, cash flow analysis, ratio analysis, and presents to MBEF internal credit approval individuals or Merchants Bank Management Loan Committee.
  • Review and analyze all pertinent credit and financial information for credits submitted under MBEF’s Scorecard Program. Decision the submission.
  • Work directly with MBEF Sales and Merchants Bank Commercial/Ag lenders to prepare Loan Committee credit lease/loan presentations on new and existing relationships that require Loan Committee approval on very complex relationships. Complete credit lease/loan presentations including financial analysis collateral valuations, payment history, risk rating review, and any adverse industry or economic changes. Work directly with Lessee/Borrower when necessary to obtain additional information.
  • On all new credit submissions that are approved either internally or by Merchants Bank Management Loan Committee establish required contract documentation for each submission.
  • Assist with MBEF quarterly Liquidation Capital Analysis reporting requirements.
  • Work with MBEF Sales staff and MBEF Management on any new industry vertical opportunities and next step discussions; including documentation review.
  • Work with external and internal customers regarding new business opportunities, modification and deferral requests and related documentation.
  • Attend customer calls and trade shows with MBEF Sales and Merchants Bank Commercial/Ag lending officers from time to time as requested by the lending officer.
