Description:

Russel Metals is one of the largest metals distribution companies in North America, with a growing focus on value-added processing. It carries on business in three segments: metals service centers, energy field stores and steel distributors. Its network of metals service centers carries an extensive line of metal products in a wide range of sizes, shapes and specifications, including carbon hot rolled and cold finished steel, pipe and tubular products, stainless steel, aluminum and other non-ferrous specialty metals. Its energy field stores carry a specialized product line focused on the needs of energy industry customers. Its steel distributors operations act as master distributors selling steel in large volumes to other steel service centers and large equipment manufacturers mainly on an “as is” basis.
Russel Metals is currently seeking a motivated and results-oriented individual with high integrity for the position of Credit Analyst in our Regional Branch in Halifax, NS. This position is 100% in office and reports to the Regional Credit Manager, Atlantic.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role with experience in analyzing credit, managing receivables, and assessing financial risks.
  • Experience in collecting receivables and ensuring cash flow.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and mitigate risks related to credit and financial exposure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and complete responsibilities within deadlines, especially under pressure.
  • Ability to analyze complex credit situations, identify issues, and implement effective solutions.
  • Proven ability to build trust and rapport with colleagues and customers to foster positive working relationships.
  • Strong proficiency in using computer systems.
  • A post-secondary education in Credit, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration is a strong asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to align with company goals and comply with internal credit policies.
  • Provide positive cash flow by achieving the monthly unit collection budget by contacting customers for collecting receivables.
  • Protect the receivable asset with effective risk management by minimizing bad debts and maximizing sales.
  • Conduct credit reviews to determine appropriate credit limits and payment terms for customers. Present analysis and recommendations to the Regional Credit Manager when limits or terms exceed your authority.
  • Continuously improve negotiation and collection techniques to optimize the receivables collection process.
  • Maintain and expand customer base while minimizing financial risk.
  • Foster clear and healthy communication between the credit department and other internal departments to support the company’s objectives.
  • Provide efficient credit services to internal operations while adhering to company policies.
  • Perform routine tasks such as maintaining customer files, reconciling accounts, and resolving issues or discrepancies.
