As a Level 2 Credit Officer within Westpac Institutional Bank, you’ll play a central role in assessing and approving credit risk for a portfolio of complex corporate and institutional customers. Working fulltime from our Sydney office, you’ll apply sound commercial judgment, confidently make well supported credit decisions, and ensure risks are identified early and managed with discipline. You’ll work across a wide range of industries including, Corporate, Property, Health, Energy, Infrastructure and Resources, developing a deep understanding of transactions spanning debt products, debt capital markets and financial markets activities. You’ll collaborate closely with senior stakeholders, contribute to a strong credit culture, and help ensure our strategies align with the bank’s risk appetite and broader business objectives. What do I need? To excel in this role, you’ll have the confidence and proven experience to back yourself in owning the credit risk decisions you make across the diversified industry sectors within the portfolio. Additionally, you'll: Have a prior / current delegated lending authority limit, likely gained via direct exposure within a similar MGC / emerging corporate / IB client focussed team with a major bank. Possess a deep understanding of Credit Risk arising from Debt Products (including Debt Capital Markets) and Financial Markets products, and the ability to effectively manage the value chain between Dealer, Relationship Manager and Credit Officers. Have a commitment to proactive maintenance of sound credit quality of your assigned portfolio, including early recognition of problem loans and developing appropriate corrective strategies.
