Description

Portfolio & Credit Risk Manager

Sydney | Non-Bank Real Estate Lender

Our client is a non-bank lender specialising in real estate finance, having grown from a startup to around $1.5 billion in loans under management over the past 10 years.

This is a newly created role sitting between senior leadership and the credit team, covering loan documentation, portfolio management, credit risk and workout situations. You'll report directly to leadership and hold final sign-off on loan documents and security packages before they go to the Board, so it's hands-on, not just an oversight seat.

What you'll be doing

  • Reviewing credit submissions and committee papers ahead of executive and Board approval
  • Final review of loan documentation and security packages
  • Monitoring the loan portfolio, including covenant testing and credit risk
  • Flagging emerging risks and recommending mitigation
  • Running insolvency, workout and recovery processes on distressed loans
  • Working directly with lawyers, insolvency practitioners, valuers and borrowers
  • Partnering with credit, risk and leadership to keep lending outcomes strong
  • Supporting the credit analyst team

Who we're after

Likely background in insolvency & restructuring, real estate debt advisory, non-bank lending, private credit, commercial property finance, or credit/portfolio risk.

You'll need:

  • Solid understanding of real estate lending structures
  • Comfort reviewing facility agreements, securities, guarantees, deeds and mortgage documentation
  • Exposure to distressed debt, workouts or insolvency
  • Experience with covenant compliance
  • Strong stakeholder skills
  • A hands-on, commercial approach

Preferred

  • Real estate lending experience is essential
  • Construction/development finance experience is a plus
  • Insolvency or restructuring background strongly preferred
  • Comfortable with complex or stressed lending situations
