Description Take-off with Pilatus! We are seeking an Avionics Crew Chief to support our maintenance operations in Westminster, MD. This position combines hands-on avionics work with day-to-day oversight of avionics technicians, ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with FAA regulations and company procedures. This role serves as a primary point of contact within the shop for avionics-related work and supports coordination across teams. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Perform troubleshooting, repair, and installation of avionics and electrical systems on Pilatus aircraft Conduct functional testing of avionics systems under simulated and actual operating conditions Lead and support Avionics Technicians (I–III), providing technical guidance and training Ensure all work is performed in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer data, and company procedures Inspect incoming aircraft and components in accordance with Certified Repair Station requirements Accurately document work performed, discrepancies, and corrective actions in job cards and production records Perform pitot/static testing and IFR certifications (FAR 91.411 and 91.413) Support software updates and database management (Garmin, Honeywell systems) Serve as a technical point of contact for technicians, engineering, and customers Conduct root cause analysis and support process improvements to enhance efficiency and safety Requirements Ideal candidate has minimum 7+ years of avionics troubleshooting experience, preferably on turbine aircraft At least 2 years of experience in a Certified Repair Station environment FAA A&P certificate or eligibility for repairman certificate under FAR 65.101 Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in aviation electronics preferred Strong knowledge of aircraft electrical systems and avionics troubleshooting Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and engineering documents Demonstrated experience supporting and coordinating work across technicians Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety Proficiency with hand tools, test equipment, and Microsoft Office applications Ability to lift up to 40 pounds Comfortable working on ladders, in confined spaces, and in a hangar environment Flexibility to work overtime as needed to support operations What We Offer 11 paid holidays a year, plus 15 days of paid vacation time, and 6 days of paid sick/personal time to start with an increase to 20 days of paid vacation time after 5 years with Pilatus 90% of medical, dental, and vision premiums paid for single coverage and 80% for family coverage, averaging $9,600 annually Monthly health savings account (HSA) contributions totaling $2,250 for single coverage and $3,000 for family coverage annually 401(k) retirement plan matching up to 6% Life and long-term disability insurance premiums paid in full Tuition assistance available annually after the first year The pay rate for this position is $37.50 - $43.00 per hour depending on experience.
