Our main goal is to provide excellent customer service and connect visitors with nature. Crew Members are an integral part of the Conservation Parks team to deliver high-quality trail and facility maintenance, park programming, and special events. This position may be partially funded by Canada Summer Jobs funding (CSJF), criteria for applicants [https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/funding/canada-summer-jobs/who-can-apply.html]. QUALIFICATIONS * High School Diploma, College Diploma, University Degree, or equivalent work experience related to major tasks. * Valid Ontario Class “G2 or G” driver’s license in good standing. * General knowledge of construction, machinery and equipment use, maintenance, and repairs. * Experience working with the public/customers. * Cash handling experience. * Currently possesses or is willing to obtain Emergency/Basic First Aid, CPR C certification * Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions. * Must be available to work all weekends and holidays. * Ability to work shifts between 5am-10pm. * Strong communication and customer service experience both verbally and writing. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Willingness to learn new skills. * Ability to clean and maintain washrooms and public areas. * Ability to obtain Pleasure Craft Operator Card. * Experience operating various vehicles/equipment such as trucks, utility vehicles, tractors, augers, generators, pumps. * Experience operating/using various hand and power tools such as, circular saws, table saws, drills, loppers, string trimmers, pole saws, battery chargers and air compressors. SUMMARY OF MAJOR TASKS * Carry out safe operation and daily inspection of various CVC vehicles/equipment such as trucks, utility vehicles, tractors, generators and pumps. * Carry out park maintenance which includes, but not limited to heavy lifting, carpentry, plumbing, grass, invasive species, grounds and trail maintenance. * Carry out daily routine tasks such as changing garbages, washroom cleaning, trail checks and ensure all informational/regulation signage is in place. * Set up, support and tear down for any special events. * Providing visitors with detailed information about our conservation areas and surrounding areas from a recreational and educational perspective. * Collect data on wildlife sightings and monitoring species at risk habits (i.e. turtle nesting) * Identify hazards or potential hazards and document in available forms.
