Description

Junior Advocate with a Leading Firm Committed to Your Growth
Are you looking for a firm that truly invests in junior talent? One of my top clients - a firm renowned for nurturing upcoming advocates and providing real opportunities for professional development - has an exciting opening!
If you’re seeking a role where you’ll be given the time, support, and training to succeed, this is the position for you. As a Junior Advocate, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with clients, manage cases from start to finish, and gain hands-on experience in court.
About the Role
Starting with advocacy work in areas like Infant Approval Hearings, Case Management Conferences (CMCs), applications, and directions hearings, you’ll be supported through comprehensive training and mentorship. As you grow, you’ll take on more complex hearings, such as Stage 3 hearings, OIC liability or quantum hearings, and CCMCs.
Beyond courtroom representation, you’ll assist in preparing infant approval advices and may also be involved in general advice, research, analysis, and drafting as needed. Long-term, you’ll be encouraged and supported in working towards achieving Higher Rights of Audience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled advocacy services for cases from within the criminal department.
  • Offer strategic advice to legal advisers and managers on court presentation.
  • Support in refining processes and documentation for case management related to court representation.
  • Identify cases where it’s commercially advantageous to settle or proceed to hearing.
  • Stay current on industry developments, including case law and legislation.
  • Excel in a target-driven environment, guiding on complex issues related to quantum, liability, and litigation.
  • Provide risk assessments and highlight potential issues to management.
  • Support additional tasks as needed to ensure high-quality service delivery.
