Youth Services - Upton Rd provides highly supportive & therapeutic youth refuge accommodation and outreach services to young people & families experiencing significant crisis and homelessness. This position joins the 24/7 support works that support young residing onsite in the Upton Rd youth refuge.

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Crisis Accommodation Support Worker! You will provide consistent support to young men, women and families with implementation of case management plans. Our Youth Services Program based in Upton Road provides highly supportive & therapeutic youth refuge accommodation to young people & families experiencing significant crisis and homelessness.
About the program

The program works intensively with young people to address issues that contribute to their unique experience of crisis & homelessness, with a particular focus on assisting young people to:

  • Develop life and living skills to prepare for independence
  • Address issues in relation to health, AOD & mental health
  • Promote opportunities to overcome exclusion and isolation
  • Explore education pathways and participation
  • Work towards long term sustainable housing

All Upton Rd Youth Services staff work within a psychologically informed practice environment and expected to work creatively towards ensuring that the support needs of all young people are the first priority.
The program operates a 24 hour, 7 days per week case management model and all staff are expected to actively participate in the life of the program and in the support of young people residing within.

Responsibilities include

  • Foster a safe, caring environment where every resident in the refuge feels protected and supported
  • Offer compassionate, informal support not only to residents but also to outreach clients in the wider community
  • Support young people to attend important appointments related to their health, education, justice and social inclusion following their individual case management plans
  • Conduct through intake and risk assessments for all refuge clients

This is a permanent part-time position, 47 hours per fortnight (23.5 hours per week), based in St Kilda, VIC.
Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 4.
Hours
This position shifts across weeknights and weekends. All applicants must have interest and availability in working shifts across a 24/7 roster with shift times from 4:30pm-12am weeknights and weekends, or 9am-5pm on weekends.

Monday: 4:30pm - 12:15am
Wednesday: 4:30pm - 12:15am
Week 2
Monday: 4:30pm - 12:15am
Wednesday: 4:30pm - 12:15am
Saturday: 4:30pm - 1:15am
Sunday: 4:30pm - 12:15am

What you will have

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Sciences, Welfare or related field with degree qualification preferred
  • Relevant experience in Social Service environment
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • A current Working with Children’s Check
