Works collaboratively with individuals in crisis and encourages their involvement in their care and other related decisions. Provides appropriate mental health information and referrals utilizing the designated databases. Collaborates with contacts to develop safety plans. Utilizes the local crisis response teams and public service answering points for intervention as needed. Provides thorough and accurate documentation of all caller interactions throughout the shift. Maintain confidentiality of all callers. Conduct follow-up calls at the scheduled times. Supports and trains the 988 Crisis Call Volunteers on shift. Completes mandatory Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training within 12 months of employment. Performs all duties and work assignments in an ethical, safe, healthy, and environmentally sound manner and in compliance with generally accepted legal, business, and professional standards. Performs related and/or other work as assigned. Upon hiring, the 988 Crisis Support Specialist will undergo training and will be expected to pass testing relevant to the position.
