Location: Elizabeth Vale (Lyell McEwin Hospital precinct) More Information & Position Description via this link: https://bit.ly/4crSTMf About the Role: The Senior Peer Practitioner is an experienced lived experience role within the Crisis Stabilisation Centre (CSC), contributing to the broader continuum of care within the Integrated Crisis Support Hub. The Senior Peer Practitioner utilises their own lived experience of mental health challenges, recovery, and/or substance use to provide peer support and genuine connection to guests and their families, carers, and supporters of choice. Drawing from a strengths-based, recovery-oriented approach, the Senior Peer Practitioner acts as a role model for recovery for people experiencing mental health challenges, distress, and crisis. In addition to direct guest-facing peer support, the Senior Peer Practitioner plays an important mentoring and practice development role within the peer workforce. They support and nurture Peer Practitioners to develop and refine their skills and understanding of peer practice, and provide lived experience supervision as required. They also support staff and leadership to deliver services in line with best practice guidelines and the CSC's co-designed Philosophy of Care. The Senior Peer Practitioner works collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring that lived experience perspectives are integrated meaningfully into all aspects of service delivery. They champion the voices, perspectives, and experiences of guests within the service, and are supported by the Peer Lead, Nursing Lead, Allied Health Lead, and broader CSC leadership. Experience Requirements: Experience providing lived experience supervision or mentoring to peer workers is highly desirable. Experience working within a multidisciplinary mental health team and contributing to integrated, consumer-centred service delivery. Experience in mental health, crisis care, community services, or a related sector. Experience supporting the development of skills and understanding in other Peer Practitioners. Minimum of two (2) years' experience working in a Peer Practitioner, lived experience, or peer support worker role. Qualification and Other Requirements: Current or willing to obtain a Working with Children's Check (WWCC) Current or willing to obtain a National Police Check (NPC) Certificate IV in Peer Work or equivalent qualification with demonstrated experience in a lived experience, Peer Practitioner, or Peer Support Worker role, or willingness to obtain. Completion of Peer Supervision training through the Lived Experience Workforce Program is highly regarded. Certificate IV in Mental Health or a related field is desirable. Postgraduate qualification in an area related to mental health and/or lived experience practice is desirable.
