Victim Services of Peterborough and Northumberland (VSPN) is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Crisis Support Worker to join our Northumberland office. This role provides immediate emotional support, crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals to individuals and families affected by crime or tragic circumstances.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in crisis intervention, victim services, social work, or a related field.
  • Post-secondary education in social services, psychology, or a related discipline is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practices and the impacts of victimization.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel within the service area.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Responsibilities
  • Provide timely, trauma-informed crisis intervention and emotional support in person, over the phone, or on-site as required.
  • Assist clients with safety planning and connection to appropriate community resources.
  • Respond to crisis calls and attend scenes in partnership with police and emergency services.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential client records and case notes.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
