UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor is excited to welcome an enthusiastic and driven Crisis Technician I to our Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) team! Safe Harbor's Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) is an 8-bed facility designed to provide an alternative to inpatient behavioral health care. Our multidisciplinary team—comprising registered nurses, CRNPs/PAs, master’s level therapists, technicians, and a discharge specialist—works collaboratively to offer comprehensive services such as medication management, therapeutic support (both group and individual), and essential referrals for ongoing care. As our ideal candidate, you will possess a high school diploma and bring a strong desire to learn. While prior experience in behavioral health or crisis- related settings is a plus, it is not required. We will provide comprehensive training upon hire to ensure your success in this role! This position will work a Monday through Friday, daylight schedule, 7a-3p. Flexibility required to support program coverage and holidays as needed. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and treatment planning as part of the recovery team. Provide direct care & supportive counseling using person-centered, strength-based, and recovery-oriented approaches. Use motivational inter viewing & positive strategies to manage crises in office or residential settings. Maintain safety, therapeutic milieu & complete all required documentation accurately. High school diploma or equivalent. B.S. degree preferred. Crisis experience preferred. Consistent ability to respond calmly and effectively, using good clinical judgment to both psychiatric and medical emergencies. Provide direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent mentally ill residents including lifting, supporting, running toward or away from areas where problems are occurring, and pushing or pulling equipment. Ability work efficiently and independently in a high-stress, unpredictable crisis setting while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team. May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients. Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Act 31 or Act 126 - must be obtained within 90 days. ASIST Certification to be obtained within 1 year of hire or transfer.
