JOB SUMMARY
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Security Team at His Majesty’s Naval Base Devonport (HMNBD), a site of national, strategic importance on the waterfront of Plymouth, Devon.
The Critical Asset Manager post is a challenging and rewarding role that supports the Naval Base Commander (NBC) with the he assurance that HMNB Devonport is compliant with the requirements of security policy.
The job is varied, challenging and busy and is set within a site with a bright future, in a specialist area of importance and potential growth. The organisation is undergoing change co-incident with this job advert. This Post will have line management responsibility of a small team within the Security Department current and future construct.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will develop and maintain a register of the critical assets, physical, information, people, and technology for site. This will include the development of vulnerability analyses and associated mitigation plans. The role holder will also work with business continuity and incident management teams to develop site response plans.
The role requires a good level of understanding of security and business resilience principles, particularly relating to the development of protection against a full range of threat vectors, targeted against personnel, assets (equipment, infrastructure, material) or information.
Stakeholder engagement is a significant part of the Critical Asset Manager post and understanding the big picture in the delivery of local security and its link to national security is key
The successful candidate can expect to travel across the Defence Nuclear Enterprise and sites of the nuclear engineering community (under DG Nuclear teams) across the UK with occasional travel and overnight stays in Bristol, London, Clyde and Portsmouth.
The position has line management responsibility and will be expected to develop, manage and lead any reports effectively.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Previous experience or technical knowledge in a security/regulatory/auditing role and a working knowledge of MOD assets and information in the MOD would be beneficial

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
