Description Brattleboro Memorial Hospital / Southern Vermont Health Services Corporation Job Description Job Title: Critical Care Float RN Job Code: 669 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt FTE: Hours: Weekends: Holidays: Call Schedule: Department Name: Emergency Department Department Code: 6780 Location: Brattleboro, Vermont JOB SUMMARY: As an unassigned critical patient resource, The Critical Care Float RN responds to Rapid Response calls, Code Blue, Assistance Team and other medical emergencies throughout the hospital. In addition to providing direct care to critically ill patients, the Critical Care Float RN provides clinical support and education to the nursing staff. The position is based primarily in the Emergency Department and rounds to other patient care areas to assist with assessments and critical care education. DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE This is a Float position, with the expectation that the RN will provide critical patient care in any department at BMH and be able to assist in all departments when experiencing high patient volume/ acuity. This includes the Emergency Department, Birthing Center, Progressive Care unit, and Post Anesthesia Care Unit, other outpatient areas as needed. Requirements QUALIFICATION EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited RN program. BSN preferred. EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS: Recent Emergency Department / Critical Care experience preferred LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S): Required prior to hire: Registered Nurse currently licensed by the State of Vermont BLS Healthcare Provider status ACLS within 3 months of hire PALS within 6 months of hire NRP within 6 months of hire TNCC within one year of hire CCRN, CEN, ENPC, STABLE, and ASPAN preferred OSHA CATEGORY OSHA Category I - Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues require use of techniques of Universal Precautions as evidenced with blood borne pathogens standards.
