Description:

As a Critical Care Lead you will be responsible for the clinical, professional and financial outcomes, including the day to day operational management of the Critical Care Service. They will develop the service to provide level 3 care in a dedicated new facility engaging Consultants Surgeons, Anaesthetists as well as the Consultants Intensivists, Critical Care Fellows and staff to enable a high level of utilisation of the service.
The Critical Care Lead will ensure the delivery of high quality, safe Critical Care level 2 for patients recovering from invasive procedures and level 2 care for medical patients admitted to the hospital. Additionally, the role involves leading and developing a safe, high Critical Care Care Level 3 service for surgical and medical patients within a dedicated clinical environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Current NMC registration
  • Post Qualification Course in Critical Care Level 3
  • Management and Leadership Qualification
  • Teaching and Assessing Qualification
  • Significant experience within the Critical Care environment
  • Good Team working skills
  • Ability to exercise rational judgement when escalating issues
  • Experience within the Theatre Recovery Room environment

What are the Responsibilities of this Critical Care Lead is role?

  • To manage and lead the Critical Care and Recovery service on a continual basis, to provide support to the Duty Managers Ward Managers and Theatres
  • To provide strategic and operational leadership, management, supervision and support to the team to develop and grow the utilisation of critical care.
  • Identify and manage performance issues in line with Hospital policies
  • Manage sickness in line with Hospital policy
  • To participate departmental recruitment and retention of staff
  • Exhibiting a high level of teamwork with the unit and in the wider hospital environment.
  • To ensure all staff within the team are up to date with the national critical care competency assessments
  • Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the Critical Care Unit and Theatre Suite, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives.
  • Participate in education, training and development of other staff.
  • Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported immediately.
