Employment Type: Full time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: Centerville MercyOne Full-Time 40 hours weekly (24 hour shift) Provides professional care for acutely ill and injured patients incorporating the education and skills learned and certified as a paramedic, for all age groups in hospital environment. Delivers, implements, and evaluates nursing care to assigned patients under supervision of a registered nurse and is accountable for patient care administered during the shift. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs assessment of patients with complex health care needs. Completes patient assessments, interventions, and evaluations. Communicates with patients at a level consistent with age and understanding. Documents a comprehensive patient record that is organized and complete reflecting all aspects of care provided. Prepares and administers medications (orally, subcutaneously, intravenously) as ordered and records the administration in the patient’s Electronic Health Record (EHR). Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Current certification as a Paramedic (PM) in the State of Iowa with Iowa Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) Endorsement within 2 years of employment. For Critical Care departments, required upon employment. Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served must be obtained within the first 3 months of hire. TNCC for ED and Critical Care within 6 months of hire.
