In this Assistant Vice President role you will work closely with the Regional Head of EMEA Market Surveillance and the Barclays Europe Trade Surveillance Operational Lead in managing the team’s portfolio, including leading or overseeing deep dive investigation, follow-up on pending escalations and model change projects.
Your role will also engage, on behalf of Barclays Europe, with Group Surveillance stakeholders and the Group Business Oversight Compliance Team to ensure Group-wide initiatives sufficiently consider EU MAR requirements. You will be joining a highly performing team in a role that offers interesting business opportunities.

To be successful as a Compliance Officer - Surveillance AVP, you should have:

  • Significant Surveillance experience using third party trade surveillance tools (e.g. NTS, Trading Hub).
  • Considerable product knowledge of either Equities, Fixed Income or FX products.
  • Good knowledge of key European regulations.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Language skills in a Non-English EU language (e.g. Spanish) would be an advantage.
  • Considerable analytical skills, attention to details and the ability to manage several simultaneous tasks.
  • A self-motivated fast learner with the ability to work resourcefully as well as within a team.

You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in the role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.
This role location will be based in Dublin or Madrid.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Monitoring market activities continuously, including order flows, prices, trading volumes and communications to identify potential irregularities or market misconduct.
  • Conducting in-depth investigations to gather evidence and assess the risk of market manipulation, insider trading, or other misconduct.
  • Business support in projects related to the firm’s market surveillance framework.
  • Regulatory query and internal/external audit support.
  • Provision of accurate and timely reports to regulatory authorities, internal stakeholders, and management regarding market surveillance activities, incidents, and trends.
  • Execution of appropriate controls aligned to the Barclays control framework and related firm-wide standards.
  • Control environment support in relation to data quality, model effectiveness and efficiency.
