Description The Nurse Anesthetist administers anesthesia for surgical, obstetrical, and other medical procedures for all age groups – neonates, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients following medically approved techniques under the professional direction of an anesthesiologist or surgeon. Has full access to patient health information. Requirements Current Certification as a Nurse Anesthetist by the AANA Council on Certification or eligible for certification Current Registered Nurse Licensure in Current Verification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the Board of Nursing Member of the AANA (optional) Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS and NALS certification Current Credentials / Reappointment per IHS Bylaws Successful completion of hospital and unit-specific orientation Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position to include walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds; may occasionally lift up to 100lbs with assistance or assistive devices. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation (i.e. keyboard). Good visual acuity required for patient assessment, medication administration, and documentation of care. Good hearing essential for accurate patient assessment. All employees with an RN job classification in the department of Nursing may have a high risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials and the use of PPE.
