JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a Crop Digger. This role involves digging, collecting, and assessing potato yields from designated field areas. You will be responsible for gathering accurate yield data to support crop performance evaluations and harvest planning.
Experience is not necessary but the desire to learn some new skills and get an insight into the processes that help food end up on your plate is a must. Most duties will be within 40 miles of CB7, a vehicle will be provided and a driving License is essential.
This is an active, hands-on role that requires early starts and the ability to navigate between field locations safely throughout the day. You’ll need to be comfortable with a mix of driving and walking, as sample collection often involves working directly in the fields.
You will be provided with a daily work schedule and sampling equipment as well as full instruction on how to collect and handle crop samples, adhering to our health and safety protocols.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manually dig and collect potatoes from designated sample areas within fields
  • Weigh and record the yield from each sample plot accurately
  • Assist in grading or sorting sample potatoes by size or quality when needed
  • Maintain clear records of field locations and yield results
  • Communicate field observations (e.g., crop issues, soil conditions) to your supervisor
  • Ensure equipment is clean, well-maintained, and used safely

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in field or agricultural work is an advantage, but not required
  • Ability to carry out repetitive physical tasks (bending, lifting, walking on uneven ground)
  • Good attention to detail for accurate measuring and recording
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and in a team
