EDUCATION:

  • To commit to participate in recognised Sterile Services Programmes.
  • To develop and participate in the in-service training programme for the orientation of new unqualified staff to the unit.
  • Member of IDI or willing to join & attend meetings.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Assist in achieving high moral within CDU based on fair and clear staff relationships.
  • Assist in ensuring communications within the department are good.
  • Encourage and maintain good communications with nursing and non-nursing staff and disciplines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate / Diploma in recognised courses.
  • Leaving Cert Standards.
  • Experience with Computers.
  • Good communication skills.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in Sterile Services or healthcare service preferred.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Good knowledge of EN ISO standards applicable to Sterile Services.
  • Keep up to date with changes within the Sterile Services & Pass knowledge on to the staff within the department. Able to communicate information to others in a clear & precise manner.

  • Demonstrate strong time management skills.
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritise work.
Responsibilities

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB

he CSSD Technicians role is to support clinical staff (Medical and Nursing) to provide care and assistance to patients to ensure that exceptional patient care is delivered.
To assist in ensuring production of sterile medical devices for use in designated areas in the hospital.

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES

  • Report to the Department Supervisor, Team Leader at the start of the shift.
  • Ensure correct policies & procedures are maintained at all times.
  • Stock rotation is done every day.
  • Ensure daily checks on autoclaves and washer disinfectors are done before the machines are used.
  • Staff will rotate through each area of the department.
  • To ensure the department is kept clean at all times.
  • Confidentiality is maintained at all times regarding patient information and hospital business.
  • To help build a good working relationship with other employees.
  • Organise workload to ensure services are maintained and correct standards are adhered to at all times.
  • Report abnormal incidents to the Department Manager or Supervisor.
  • Assist in the training of new staff members.
  • Ensure to keep up to date with new practices regarding the Department.
  • To ensure to adhere to Health & Safety Act.
  • Carry out any other duties that may be assigned.

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
