  • Role is located in the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) at Counties Manukau District, Northern Region of Health New Zealand. The role is a permanent full time position.
  • To be part of a unit that plays a crucial role in supporting the hospitals theatres, wards and clinics.
  • This role offers on the job training at the same time as you are earning.

ABOUT YOU

As a CSSD Technician you dont require any prior experience, but we are looking for ambitious individuals that enjoy constant learning, as there is a mandatory component to be qualified.

Assisting CSSD in compliance with the standard AS 5369: 2023 Reprocessing of reusable medical devices and other devices in health and non-health facilities is a mandatory requirement.

  • Initially completing the Level 3 Sterilising Technology Course Certificate through the Open Polytechnic.
  • Then completing the Level 4 Sterilising Technology Course Certificate through Toi Ohomai
  • Membership of the New Zealand Sterile Sciences Association (NZSSA)
  • Eventually gaining Registration through the NZSSA
  • You are fit and healthy as the role does involve some manual labour i.e. standing for long periods of time and heavy lifting
  • Be prepared to work shifts as and when required
  • Be prepared to support CMH CSSD Departments on both Manukau Health Park and Middlemore Hospital Sites

Responsibilities

As a CSSD Technician you will be responsible for sterilising reusable medical devices through a four-part process, which includes cleaning, packing, sterilising, followed by the distribution of reusable medical devices. You will need to ensure that items arriving in the unit for processing are moved through each phase in the reprocessing cycle.
