Description
Overview The Central Sterile Supply Worker is responsible to assemble, sterilize, and clean equipment, supplies and instruments according to prescribed procedures and techniques. Special Instructions On call responsibilities Responsibilities Assures quality production of CSS trays and packs to decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments, containers, linen and related equipment using steam and gas sterilizers or disinfectants with antiseptic solutions. Remove gas sterilizers Assembles packs, trays, etc. according to established procedure and prescribed content and wraps same with specified coverings. Must maintain awareness of environment and produce packs and trays simultaneously, as well as monitor autoclave readings, pressure settings, etc. Transports sterile packets to proper storage area. Documents loss of equipment and supplies. Removes outdated items from stock and reprocesses as required. May operate distilling equipment and prepares bottles of distilled water, normal saline, etc. and sterilizes same according to established procedures. Secures required amount of linen from storage, sterilizes, sorts and folds all types of linen according to prescribed methods and stores in proper storage area. May order supplies, linen, etc., as needed to maintain operations. Maintains working area in clean and orderly condition. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent; Ability to perform and understand specific and exact aseptic techniques.
