The Nepean Blue Mountains Health District offers a wide range of Medical Imaging (Radiology), Nuclear Medicine, and Nuclear Medical Therapy procedures through our various facilities/services with a goal to help diagnose, assess, and treat patient’s injury or disease.
Blue Mountains Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Radiation Scientist (MRS) to join our Medical Imaging Department. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with the Chief Radiographer to manage and coordinate departmental operations, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality imaging services. Specialising in CT, you will provide clinical leadership, education, and expertise, overseeing patient care, quality assurance, and staff development, while maintaining hands-on clinical practice. Your advanced knowledge and skills in CT will support proactive leadership and participation in all aspects of service delivery, including rostered shifts and on-call duties. Responsibilities
  • Possess a degree in Medical Radiation Science, current registration with AHPRA as a Medical Radiation Practitioner, and a current Radiation Licence from NSW EPA.
  • Possess an appropriately recognised post graduate qualification relevant to the area of specialisation, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated high standard of knowledge and clinical expertise in CT, including quality assurance, protocol development, education and assessment, and quality improvement or research activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, instruct, support and mentor radiographers and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with a high level of initiative and independence in problem solving, as well as working collaboratively and professionally in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Evidence of well-developed written and verbal communication skills for excellent team building, sound conflict resolution and performance feedback, and experience in applying change management strategies.
  • Proven capability to manage operations within a diagnostic radiology department and discharge associated administrative duties, including patient care and throughput, knowledge of relevant legislation and standards, and ability to manage resources effectively.
  • Current licence to drive in NSW with the ability to work at other sites within the LHD as required.
