EMCD is a global crypto infrastructure company powering millions of users worldwide. Our ecosystem combines a top-7 global mining pool, a secure multi-currency wallet, high-yield crypto savings, and an instant P2P exchange - all in one seamless app. We're looking for a CTO / Head of Engineering to define and execute the technology strategy of our crypto exchange and lead engineering across backend, frontend, QA, DevOps/SRE and security. You will own the exchange architecture, delivery discipline, and platform reliability in a high-load, security-critical environment. What you'll do Define the technology strategy and target architecture for the exchange Build and evolve the core trading stack: matching engine, order management, risk management, and market data systems Establish and enforce security, redundancy, and protection standards; work closely with security leadership to protect data, keys and infrastructure Own API strategy and integrations for users, market makers, and partners (payments/custody/liquidity providers) Build engineering excellence: CI/CD, testing, monitoring, code review, documentation and technical debt management Ensure SLA/SLO ownership, incident management, and post-mortems; plan migrations and platform optimizations Lead and grow teams: performance management, mentoring, and a culture of ownership and transparency Communicate architecture and progress clearly to stakeholders and partners; manage vendors when needed Requirements 3+ years as CTO / Head of Engineering / Lead Architect in crypto or trading, with proven delivery of a CEX/trading platform (spot/futures/margin) Deep understanding of trading systems: order books, settlement, and risk management Experience with high-load backend and microservices; strong leadership and engineering culture building Strong grasp of security, redundancy, and compliance requirements What We Offer We operate as a remote-first company, and you can work from anywhere in the world without location constraints Working hours are fully flexible We provide extended time off: 20 paid vacation days per year, plus 12 additional bonus days Sick leave is fully paid and handled without unnecessary bureaucracy We support professional growth by covering the cost of relevant courses, certifications and training programs You will have real impact and ownership of meaningful, high-value tasks, along with the opportunity to help shape core infrastructure in the fintech and crypto space Corporate pricing for company products and the opportunity to set up your own mining farm using EMCD's infrastructure
