ABOUT SJC PRINT:

SJC’s Print Division in Concord is one of Canada’s largest commercial printers, specializing in high-volume production of magazines, flyers, and catalogues. With deep roots in print, the division supports major brands through a full suite of services including direct mail, data management, warehousing, and fulfillment — all delivered with a strong focus on quality and operational excellence

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Post secondary diploma in Graphics Arts or similar program/ discipline
  • Minimum two years working experience in a Prepress Department

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of MAC, PC, and Windows Platforms
  • Experience with FTP Transfer software and email
  • Advanced knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and QuarkXPress
  • Advanced knowledge of Prinergy workflow and software
  • Intermediate knowledge of digital color proofing
  • Advanced knowledge of Preps and Creo VPS software
  • Basic knowledge of Internet and network
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work well with others
Responsibilities
  • Receives files from disk, FTP or email
  • Copies files over a network
  • Checks file specifications, preflights and troubleshoots
  • Opens files in QuarkXPress, InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Writes pages to PDF
  • Corrects file errors
  • Able to make extensive changes to customer files including colour retouching
  • Process PDF files through Prinergy workflow
  • Impose press impositions using Preps Software
  • Feeding, bundling and facilitating the overall platemaking process which includes some physical demand
  • Ensure that all ISO policies and procedures are adhered to
  • When required submit amendments to ISO procedures for approval
  • Follow all safety standards, ISO and housekeeping at all times;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
