Overview:
Incumbents in the Culinarian II position prepare meals, assist customers, and clean the kitchen and Dining Hall.
Responsibilities:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of food service experience is required. Must have a current food handler’s permit or the ability to obtain one.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to prepare and execute menu items to specification.
  • Ability to follow recipes and presentation specifications.
  • Ability to maintain a clean station by being well organized and practicing safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to take direction.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as assigned.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to work with a diverse workforce.

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements
    This position requires moderate physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting. This position requires nearly continuous standing, repetitive hand motions, and reaching overhead. Employees may be exposed to unusual elements including extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

The Culinarian II reports to the Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine and/or Executive Chef. This classification has no supervisory responsibilities but may offer guidance to less senior culinarians and student employees.
