JOB DESCRIPTION

EYL 365 Project is currently accepting applications for Culinary Art French Pastry Youth Educators for the 2025-26 programming year. Our organization is seeking passionate and experienced French Pastry Youth Educators who have a strong interest in Social Justice and Racial Equity Arts Education. French Pastry Youth Educators will provide in-school and/or after-school residency opportunities, generally between 3:30 - 9:00 pm for 1.5 to 2 hours, at DCPS Ward 6, 7 and 8 partner schools, transitional housing units and recreation centers. We are seeking a qualified individual who is enthusiastic and skilled in providing guidance and support to students. As a tutor, you will have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of students and to help them achieve their full potential.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor/Master degree or working towards a graduate degree in a relevant subject i.e.; Early Childhood Education, Education, Culinary Art , or other related fields (graduates will be considered)Experience working with kids and/or teaching in a group setting
  • Available in the afternoon (after school program) at least one day a week consistently for a period of minimum 3 months

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Culinary Certification
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Ability to provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a tutor or teacher
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of current educational technologies and teaching methods
  • Provide individual and small group tutoring sessions to students in grades K-12

Preferred:)

  • At least 2-3 years of teaching experience (leading hands-on activities in a classroom, after school program, day camp, etc.)
  • Familiarity with project-based learning (preferred, though not required)
  • Familiarity with foundational engineering concepts (preferred, though not required)
  • The ability to manage multiple student projects and personalities

Program Starting in September:
Seeking an Experienced French Pastry Culinary Artist Youth Educator to lead and facilitate an 9 week beginner French Pastry after-school program with (2) two groups of 2nd - 5th graders from 3:45 - 5pm in an Accelerated workshop format. Program Months : September - December, Program Day: Monday. It is required for the pastries to be completed in one sitting for each group due to the program structure.
French Pastries examples: Beignets, Palmiers,Apple Tart,French Madeleines

Responsibilities
  • EYL 364 Project is actively looking for a Part-Time French Enrichment Teacher to lead our after school classes Culinary Art - Pastries program.
  • The lesson plan and the content of the classes will be provided by EYL 365 Project founder and the teacher will be able adapt the program to each class and age group
  • EYL 365 Project curriculum working with Preschool and School aged children in a way that is consistent with the unique needs of each child.
  • Conducting innovative sessions for students
  • Communicating with students in the French language
