In the fall, we turn into Canada’s most terrifying haunted attraction- Screampark. In October, the Oktoberfest Kool Haus is home to thousands of guests to celebrate KW Oktoberfest (North America's largest Bavarian festival). Bingemans is in the business of providing Grand Experiences! We are currently hiring for a Second Cook. What will you be doing? As a member of a fast-paced culinary team, you will be responsible for the daily production of, banquet food preparation, catered event production, special event production, wedding production, and food truck production. A second cook must demonstrate enhanced skills in the culinary arts, the ability to take direction, and strong willingness to learn. Essential job functions will include: * The preparation, production, and transportation of food items for service * Plans effectively to meet daily job requirements * Demonstrate proficiency in both hot and cold areas of the kitchen * Ability to multitask in a variety of roles within the kitchen * Positive influence with all members of the culinary team * The organization of food items and mise en place * Inventory management; receiving and proper storage of food deliveries * Maintaining food standards through use of standardized food recipes and safe food handling practices * Maintains food cost through the minimization of food waste * Identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings to the kitchen managers * Maintain a safe work environment, identifying potential hazards and reporting any noticed deficiencies immediately What We're Looking For? * Certificate or diploma from a reputable, post-secondary culinary training school * A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar environment is an asset * Must have good communication and interpersonal skills * Must be able to work flexible shifts; all days of the week, a.m. and/or p.m. shifts as well as split shifts and major holidays * Must have reliable transportation to and from work * Must be food safe certified * Must have a passion for excellent food and creativity to develop custom menu options with ease. * Required to work to the business needs, days, evenings, weekends, holidays. This will at times require long hours especially during peak times Physical requirements: * Must be able to lift and transport up to 50 pounds * Must be able to stand for long periods of time (for up to and more than 8 hours) * Must be able to work in both, hot and cold (fridge/freezer) environments This position is for an open vacancy currently available within our organization.
