Reporting to the General Manager, the Culinary Services Manager position is a critical role with overall accountability for the management and leadership of all operational activities within the dietary department.

Responsibilities
  • Planning, coordinating, directing and monitoring effectiveness of all operational activities within the dietary department, ensuring those activities are aligned to the home’s strategic plan, mission and values.
  • Overseeing recruitment, employee and labour relations, payroll and benefits, orientation, occupational and non-occupational injury/illness, performance management, training, education and other people related functions within the dietary department.
  • Ensures effective and efficient procurement and supply control procedures within the dietary department.
  • Responds promptly to address dietary concerns of residents and family members, mediates appropriate responses to those concerns and implements action plans.
  • Managing and monitoring the dietary budget, takes appropriate action where variances are identified to bring expenditures in line within the dietary budget.
  • Creating menus, monitoring daily food preparation and reviewing of menus to ensure individual dietary needs of residents are met. * Providing coverage in the capacity of a Cook, as required.
  • Maintains an organized system of records management for the dietary department.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant legislation including but not limited to: Ministry Acts, regulations, policies and procedures, directives, and collective agreements.
  • Works in accordance with the organization’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
