To provide leadership in Culinary Arts Education for students with disabilities - This position includes all appropriate planning, instruction, and assessment for students enrolled in special education programs and to work collaboratively with program staff, colleagues, and parents/guardians to meet the academic, social/emotional, behavioral, and elective needs of students with disabilities.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and teach Culinary Arts
  • Create menus
  • Prepare and organize food orders/grocery lists
  • Maintain proper handling and storage of food
  • Maintain sanitation and facility standards, including appliance maintenance
  • Work with a small group of students to prepare lunch for 20-30 students
  • Provide accommodations to support students needs
  • Provide supervision of students at all times
  • Implement appropriate behavior management techniques and/or behavior support plans given training by staff
  • Perform other related tasks or duties at the discretion of the Program Administrator and/or Executive Director

Physical Demands

  • Use of hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools or controls, see (including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus), hear and speak; (i.e., computer, calculator, telephone).
  • Requires good physical condition to support lifting, positioning, and transitioning students as needed, according to caseload/classroom assignment.
  • Demands of lifting may be up to 50 pounds.
  • Meet the physical requirements necessary to implement physical interventions/escorts according to the Collaborative policies, protocols, and special education regulations.
