Culinary Specialist Position Summary: Provide residents with nutritious, well-prepared meals served with compassion, professionalism, and attention to individual dietary needs while maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety. Schedule: 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM Reports To: Dietary Director Key Responsibilities: * Prepare, portion, and serve meals, snacks, desserts, beverages, and supplements according to menu and therapeutic diet requirements  * Assist residents during meal service with professionalism, patience, and empathy  * Maintain accurate documentation of dietary changes, meal intake, and resident requests  * Operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment following sanitation and safety standards  * Wash dishes, cookware, and kitchen utensils in compliance with state and federal regulations  * Monitor dishwasher temperatures and ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed  * Assist with food receiving, storage, and inventory organization  * Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding resident dietary needs  * Support a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and dining environment  * Participate in training, in-services, and facility initiatives as assigned  Qualifications: * Previous food service experience preferred  * Long-term care or healthcare dietary experience preferred  * Ability to read, write, follow directions, and perform basic math  * Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills  * Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and therapeutic diets  * Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment  * Self-motivated with the ability to work independently  Physical Requirements: * Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds during shifts  * Ability to work in hot and cold environments and safely handle cleaning chemicals and kitchen equipment  Core Competencies: * Compassionate resident care  * Food safety and sanitation  * Meal preparation and service  * Team collaboration  * Attention to detail  * Time management  * Dependability and professionalism  Goal of the Position: Support resident health, satisfaction, and quality of life by delivering safe, appealing, and nutritious meals while maintaining compliance with all facility, state, and federal standards!
