POSITION SUMMARY: The Mercado associate must provide excellent customer service. They ensure that the Mercado department is neat, clean, and organized. They restock the shelves when necessary. They ensure the price labels are accurate. They perform cash handling duties and use the AR system. FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Prepares Cash Register and Assigned area to ensure it is ready to accept customers. * Records amount of sale on cash register and makes change. * Obtains credit authorization on Credit Sales as needed. * Is responsible for all the procedures related to Cashiering including full responsibility for monies under his/her control. * Update’s customer information as required. * Inspects merchandise prior to bagging to see that it is in satisfactory condition and verifies sales slip with price tickets on merchandise. * Balance’s cash register daily. * Dusts, cleans and restocks merchandise shelves as assigned. * Sets up advertising signs on promotional items as well as any other signage that is required. * Does price changes on merchandise as needed. * Helps customers by answering any questions on the products in the Mercado area. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
