ABOUT US

Within a distributed medical education model, the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Program is responsible for delivering an integrated four-year program at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.
Undergraduate Medicine is one of nine programs within the Education Portfolio in the Dean’s Office at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (SSMD). The Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program is a four-year program which qualifies students for the MD degree. The Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Program coordinates all aspects of the MD program. The MD curriculum is delivered across multiple communities in South-western Ontario, including the city of Windsor.
The Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Program strives to deliver quality education and service by ensuring an open and friendly environment for faculty, staff and students exists. Required to uphold a team philosophy; sharing and collaborating with staff throughout the Dean’s Office and the Schulich Windsor Program is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • 3-year community college diploma in Business Management/Administration
  • University Undergraduate Degree is preferred

Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience providing administrative support and project coordination for curriculum and course development in an academic/clinical environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Intermediate proficiency required in Microsoft Office in order to prepare emails, course outlines, announcements, and to input data into spreadsheets and databases
  • Ability to establish effective routines for excellent communication with all members of the team to maximize productivity
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
  • Demonstrated ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work
  • Strong customer service skills to handle enquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner

Responsibilities

The Curriculum Assistant is one of six positions that provides ongoing administrative support for the activities associated with the planning and delivery of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) curriculum within the Curriculum Support Division, UME, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. The role serves as a point of contact and provides information to faculty and staff regarding the curriculum, development and implementation. The Curriculum Assistant is responsible for maintaining databases and websites, coordinating schedules, providing information on processes and deadlines, providing administrative support to Course Chairs, and distributing course information and materials in a timely manner.
