Description

Ready to revolutionize education? Welcome to Alpha Schools, where we’re turning 8-year-olds into mini-moguls and 10-year-olds into TED talk sensations. We’re not just dreaming big - we’re making it happen. And now, we’re looking for a visionary Curriculum Designer to join our Austin, Texas campus and help us push the boundaries even further.
Imagine wielding the power of cutting-edge AI to craft mind-bending workshops that leave kids (and adults) in awe. Picture yourself piloting these creations with real students, fine-tuning your designs based on their reactions and feedback. Envision collaborating with a team of education mavericks who are as passionate about reshaping learning as you are.
This isn’t your average curriculum development role. We’re blending the best of instructional design with a laser focus on practical life skills. You’ll have the autonomy to innovate, the tools to iterate, and the support to transform your wildest educational dreams into reality.
If you’re ready to catapult K-8 education into the future and equip the next generation with superpowered life skills, it’s time to join Alpha. Let’s rewrite the rules of learning together!
Note: This is a full-time, in-person position at our Austin, Texas campus. No remote work available.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • A burning desire to work on-site at Alpha’s Austin campus, where the magic happens
  • A bachelor’s degree in… well, anything! We care more about your skills than your specific field of study
  • At least one year of experience crafting educational experiences that make people sit up and take notice - whether that’s in workshops, trainings, or other creative learning environments
  • A knack for reading the room and gathering intel - you should be able to observe students and collect qualitative feedback like a pro
  • AI whisperer status - you need to be comfortable using tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Perplexity to bring your wildest educational dreams to life
  • The legal right to work in the US without visa sponsorship - sorry, no exceptions on this one!

THIS POSITION IS ALSO KNOWN AS:

  • Learning Experience Designer
  • Curriculum Developer
  • Learning And Development Specialist
  • Training and Development Specialist
  • Curriculum Writer
  • Instructional Designer
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Architect a groundbreaking life skills curriculum for K-8 students, turning complex concepts like public speaking, storytelling, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy into child-friendly adventures
  • Engineer cutting-edge assessment systems that measure the immeasurable - tracking progress in skills most adults haven’t even mastered
  • Become a workshop wizard, piloting your creations with real students and using their reactions (and parent feedback) to refine your educational alchemy
  • Transform into a walking encyclopedia of educational innovation through relentless research, trend-spotting, and synthesis of diverse information
  • Join forces with our team of education revolutionaries to ensure every workshop not only meets but shatters quality expectations and learning objectives

WHAT YOU WILL NOT BE DOING

  • Creating fluffy, feel-good activities that prioritize fun over function - we’re here to build skills, not just smiles
  • Designing programs that treat kids like they’re made of glass - we believe in stretching young minds to their full potential
  • Churning out theoretical content that doesn’t translate to the real world - everything we do has practical applications
  • Developing snooze-worthy, lecture-based materials - passive learning is so last century
  • Focusing on traditional academic metrics - we’re more interested in practical skills than test scores

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to craft a life skills curriculum so engaging and rigorous that it makes the impossible possible. You’ll be the architect of educational experiences that leave parents slack-jawed and students begging for more. Your creations will transform ordinary kids into extraordinary achievers, mastering skills that most adults are still struggling with. Success isn’t just about meeting expectations - it’s about blowing them out of the water and redefining what’s possible in education.
