JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Curriculum Leader to join our team on a short-term contract, with the possibility of the role becoming permanent depending on performance and agreement.
The successful candidate will design, implement, and evaluate our Life Skills and Jobs Programme, which equips care-experienced young people aged 16–25 with essential independent living skills and employability training. This includes over 100 practical skills (such as budgeting, cooking, DIY, tenancy management) and 50 administrative skills (such as applying for benefits, setting up utilities, and accessing housing support), alongside soft skills and job readiness.
This role requires expertise in curriculum development and instructional design, strong project management, and the ability to create engaging, trauma-informed learning resources.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEESSENTIAL

  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent (formerly PTLLS).
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding Training (Level 2+).
  • Proven experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or training delivery.
  • Experience working with young people (16–25), ideally care leavers or those in supported housing.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of curriculum materials, lesson plans, and schemes of work using structured instructional design methods (e.g. ADDIE model).
  • Ensure all content is engaging, accessible, and trauma-informed, tailored to care-experienced young people.
  • Oversee project management of curriculum initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023 and Ofsted expectations.
  • Integrate content into Learning Management Systems (LMS) for blended and online delivery.
  • Develop interactive resources using a variety of learning technologies and tools.
  • Provide training to staff on best practices for delivering life skills and employability content.
  • Conduct evaluations of curricula, gathering learner and staff feedback to recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to embed adult education principles and employability skills.
  • Produce assessment tools (confidence scales, reflection logs, sign-off sheets, evidence capture).
  • Present curriculum proposals and updates to stakeholders with clarity and impact.
