JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Curriculum Director, Secondary Schools
CLASSIFICATION: Administrative
SALARY: $100,000 to $110,000 (Based on education and experience)
STATUS: Exempt (Salaried)/260 Days
LOCATION: Administrative Services Center
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent, Secondary
SUMMARY: This position will provide leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review and evaluation of the district’s curriculum and instructional services, federal programs, career and technical education services, assessment, research and evaluation services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of five (5) years secondary teaching experience required.
  • Administrator license preferred.
  • Experience with curriculum planning, implementation and development
  • Experience with IDOE and locally created assessments.
  • Possess the highest personal standards, good morals, ethics, honesty, commitment and integrity.
  • Experience or knowledge of the NAFCS curriculum/PLC framework is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate literacy programming for 5-12 and literacy intervention for grades 5-12.
  • Lead secondary instructional coaches and collaborate with department leads to drive building level curriculum programs.
  • As required by law, annually update the 5-12 NAFCS curriculum on the district website.
  • Oversee state initiatives including Science of Reading, Math , and adherence to all requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between NAFCS and the IDOE on curriculum developments.
  • Manage all aspects of summer school programming, credit recovery programming, including student and staff recruitment, job postings, and payroll preparation.
  • Plan and organize summer school site planning meetings, collaborating with HR, payroll, transportation, food services, facilities, technology, social workers, and school nurses/health aides.
  • Assist the college and career pathway coordination for secondary programs.
  • Facilitate student class placement and coordinate instructional materials.
  • Manage the curriculum planning (pacing guides) process for grades 5-12 including career and technical education.
  • Track teachers involved in tutoring at the middle, and high schools, monitoring which students are served.
  • Screening and Reporting-Provide dyslexia screenings for high school students upon parent request or for special education referrals. Generate and provide reports summarizing the results of the screening to the special ed facilitator and school psychologists.
  • Compliance-stay informed about any updates or changes to the dyslexia legislation and adjust district practices as needed.
  • IDOE Reporting-Complete mandated reporting for dyslexia to the IDOE as required on an annual basis.
  • Organize and plan professional development opportunities based on district needs. Facilitate the contract and communicate needs with the professional development provider.
  • Coordinate with district administration, school administration, teachers’ association, special education admin, and facilities when planning professional development.
  • Assist in the implementation of IDOE required initiatives.
  • Assist the Secondary Assistant Superintendent and the Director of Assessment and Student Information in the implementation of new or updated standards by communicating changes to instructional coaches and working with them to update pacing guides, provide quality resources for teachers, and develop assessments that measure student progress.
  • Coordinate with Secondary Assistant Superintendent and the Director of Assessment and Student Information, instructional coaches, teachers, teachers’ association representatives, and administrators.
  • Support the ongoing tuition based Early Childcare Preschool program at Prosser.
  • Assist Secondary Assistant Superintendent and the Director of Assessment and Student Information when changes are made to IDOE assessments. Share updates with instructional coaches and assist in determining how best to communicate changes to teachers
  • Assist the Secondary Assistant Superintendent in the adoption of textbook and curricular materials that address the Indiana Academic Standards.
  • Provide initial and implementation support of grants as they relate to secondary programming. i.e., Title II, Title III, Title IV, and High Ability, PLTW, Formative Assessment, Digital Learning, etc.
  • Coordinate with the Grant Coordinator and the business office to monitor expenditures, reimbursements, and reports.
  • Coordinate and assist implementation of intervention and extension including SEEK, WIN, and FLEX.
  • Coordinate with the high ability teachers and provide support to the program.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by administration.
