About the role This role sits within the Curriculum Implementation directorate which manages the transition from newly developed syllabuses to classroom teaching, providing a structured, phased approach to ensure schools can effectively adopt, teach and embed new requirements. At NESA we are presently focused on an exciting, transformational program of curriculum reform, and this role is a great opportunity to support the work of sectors and schools. The Curriculum Implementation Officer, English & Literacy K-12 provides, advice and support for the English curriculum and literacy initiatives and projects in accordance with Directorate priorities and processes. On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for: Providing English syllabus implementation advice to NESA Divisions and school sectors Undertaking curriculum activities and projects Providing evidenced based advice in how children learn to read Promoting the objectives, and direction of Curriculum Reform Preparing correspondence, reports, briefings and data in relation to English & literacy and related curriculum implementation activities. Developing teaching material that translates research into practice Providing advice in regard to national and international research that informs best practice in English & literacy learning. Supporting the range of programs and projects that require curriculum support across NESA including HSC examinations. To be successful you will need: Experience teaching the English learning area, including an understanding of how to teach reading. Extensive knowledge of assessment practices and how to use assessment to plan for teaching Tertiary qualifications in education. Extensive working knowledge and understanding of current legislation, policy, research, practices and issues relating to English & literacy curriculum and assessment. Valid Working with Children Check (NSW). Note: A current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance for paid employment is required before commencing in this role.
