JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an innovative and mission-driven Curriculum & Resource Developer to create engaging, accessible educational materials for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This part-time, hybrid role focuses on curriculum design, virtual facilitation, resource creation, and outreach support in the areas of employment readiness, life skills, and vocational training.
The ideal candidate is creative, tech-savvy, and passionate about equity in education and community-based support. By developing high-quality learning tools and resources, this role plays a key part in helping individuals build skills for greater independence, employment opportunities, and community participation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Prior to hiring the leadership team/human resources will conduct the employment interview with prospective candidate. Applications will be completed, and prospective employees must complete the following procedure prior to starting work.

  • The Staff must also adhere to the following:
  • Educational background or experience in instructional design, curriculum development, education, workforce development, or related fields.
  • Proficiency with Canva, Google Workspace, Loom, or similar platforms for content creation and digital training.
  • Understanding of intellectual/developmental disabilities and principles of inclusive learning preferred.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote/hybrid setting.
  • Creativity, attention to accessibility, and a passion for community-centered service.
  • Prior experience in human services, education, healthcare, or nonprofit environments is preferred.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Knowledge of special education, vocational training, or independent living skill development preferred.
  • Must meet any applicable agency onboarding requirements, including background checks and training clearances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Power Point and Excel)
  • Must be proficient in written and verbal communication.
  • Attention to detail and data entry with minimal errors.
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Health Screening Clearance with TB clearance results
  • Fingerprint Clearance prior to hire
  • Signed Criminal Record Statement
  • Signed Dependent Adult Abuse Reporting Requirement
  • References and verification of experience will be checked and cleared by Human Resources
  • High School Diploma/ GED/ Equivalent

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.00 - $26.75 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop virtual lesson plans, interactive slide decks, digital worksheets, and simple video-based modules using Canva, Google Slides, Loom, and related tools. Create engaging, easy-to-follow educational content that incorporates visuals, audio narration, and interactive elements. Tailor materials to be learner-centered, with clearly defined outcomes and flexible pacing options. Ensure consistency in branding and instructional tone across all content formats.
  • Collaborate with vocational specialists and remote staff to customize materials based on participant learning goals, cognitive needs, and personal strengths. Meet regularly with staff to gather input on individual learning preferences, skill levels, and support needs. Adjust lesson formats and instructional methods to ensure materials are developmentally appropriate, strengths-based, and culturally relevant.
  • Ensure all educational content meets accessibility standards, including adaptations for visual, auditory, and cognitive learning styles. Apply universal design principles to all instructional materials. Use alternative text, captions, simplified language, high-contrast visuals, and screen-reader compatible formats. Continuously review materials for inclusivity and modify based on participant feedback and evolving accessibility standards.
  • Compile and maintain a directory of online and local community resources to support employment, vocational training, and independent living. Research and organize a comprehensive and regularly updated database of partner organizations, job readiness programs, benefits counseling services, and life-skills supports. Categorize resources by region, eligibility, and service type to improve usability by staff and participants.
  • Facilitate virtual group sessions and 1:1 educational training for individuals and families, offering ongoing guidance and follow-up support. Deliver curriculum in a supportive and engaging virtual environment. Encourage participation, self-advocacy, and peer interaction. Adapt facilitation methods based on learner engagement, comprehension levels, and feedback. Provide individualized support plans and follow-up sessions as needed.
  • Contribute to outreach efforts by sharing program highlights, success stories, and educational content via newsletters, emails, and social media. Collaborate with the communications team to develop uplifting and informative content that reflects program outcomes. Share learner achievements, community partnerships, and curriculum spotlights to promote engagement and visibility.
  • Assist in planning and hosting remote job fairs, employer spotlights, and virtual info sessions with community partners. Coordinate logistics, communication, and materials for virtual events. Develop prep materials for participants (e.g., resume templates, interview guides). Support engagement during sessions by moderating chat, facilitating Q&A, and assisting with technical issues.
  • Maintain CRM tools or outreach spreadsheets to track employer communications, partnership progress, and resource availability. Log all outreach efforts, follow-up actions, and resource updates to ensure continuity in partner relationships. Generate reports as needed to inform leadership and improve collaboration across teams.
  • Keep internal staff informed of new tools and updates by sharing resource lists, developing onboarding materials, and supporting internal training sessions. Serve as a knowledge hub for educational tools and community resources. Create easy-reference guides, explainer videos, and quick-start checklists for use during onboarding or team meetings. Support internal professional development sessions by offering tool demonstrations or brief presentations.
  • Create monthly newsletter content that includes program updates, partner resources, and curriculum highlights. Draft and format engaging, accessible newsletters tailored for both internal and external audiences. Highlight new lesson topics, participant milestones, upcoming events, and community collaborations. Track readership metrics to refine content strategy over time.
  • Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to support new initiatives that promote self-advocacy, independence, and skill-building. Participate in brainstorming sessions, pilot programs, and cross-department projects that expand learning opportunities. Provide input on curriculum development strategy and contribute creative ideas that empower individuals with disabilities to reach their goals.
  • Continuously research and share best practices, tools, and resources that benefit staff, and the individuals served. Stay current with trends in adult education, assistive technology, and inclusive instructional design. Curate and disseminate relevant articles, toolkits, and professional development resources to enhance staff effectiveness and participant outcomes.
