Description

We are seeking an experienced curriculum writer to design a comprehensive Nutrition & Wellness course for high school students. This course will be built on a structured framework of 10 units with 9 lessons per unit (90 lessons total).

The writer will:

  • Develop lesson objectives and outcomes aligned with national and state health/nutrition education standards.
  • Write engaging lesson content tailored for grades 9–12, blending clear explanations with interactive, student-friendly language.
  • Design assessments and activities (quizzes, case studies, projects, reflections, labs, etc.) that test comprehension and encourage real-world application.
  • Incorporate multimedia elements (suggestions for images, videos, interactive components) for an online learning environment.
  • Align pacing for a full school year (~36 weeks), ensuring balanced progression.
  • Collaborate with internal reviewers for feedback and revisions.

Required Experience

  • Curriculum design experience for grades 9–12 in health, nutrition, physical education, or science.
  • Strong familiarity with national health education standards (e.g., CDC’s National Health Education Standards, USDA MyPlate, or state-level frameworks).
  • Demonstrated ability to create lesson plans, activities, and assessments for digital/online delivery.
  • Experience designing for self-paced or blended learning environments (preferably with platforms like eDynamic, Edgenuity, SchoolsPLP, or other LMS).
  • Ability to scaffold content progressively across a year-long sequence.
  • Strong writing and editing skills — clear, concise, and engaging for high school learners.
  • Background in nutrition, dietetics, health sciences, or wellness education (degree or equivalent work experience).

Preferred Experience

  • Prior work developing CTE (Career & Technical Education) or elective high school courses in Health Sciences or Family & Consumer Sciences.
  • Knowledge of teen engagement strategies (discussion prompts, real-world scenarios, culturally relevant examples).

Application Requirements

  • Resume/CV highlighting curriculum writing and nutrition/health experience.
  • 2–3 examples of previous curriculum projects (ideally for 9–12 students, online format).
