Custodians are responsible for keeping buildings clean and in an orderly condition. They must perform heavy cleaning duties, such as washing walls and windows, cleaning floors and removing rubbish. Custodians also have to notify management of repairs needed. The custodian includes reading comprehension skills, coordination skills, oral comprehension skills, and equipment selection skills. It is essential to be able to read instructions for cleaning specific surfaces and fixtures. It is also important to have oral comprehension skills to be able to follow verbal cleaning instructions. Essential Functions of the Job: Replenishing stock and cleaning restrooms Gathering and emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, monitoring building safety security, and dusting. You may need to occasionally move heavy furniture to reach corners, cracks, and crevices of covered parts of the room Ensure that all supplies needed to maintain the cleanliness of the school are obtained and maintained. Must be cognizant of the school surroundings and movements of staff and students so that any job duties that are assigned are done in a manner not to interrupt class activities or movements of staff or students Must have or be able to obtain a Fingerprint clearance card
