Custodian (Evening) Year-Round, Hourly, Part-Time Grow Academy Shafter Reports to: Lead Custodian Summary Description: The Custodian at Grow Academy is responsible to schedule, coordinate and perform routine and ongoing custodial maintenance of the Academy and immediately surrounding property. In this capacity, he/she will use and maintain power equipment and hand tools, buffers, vacuums, brooms, mops, squeegees and a variety of materials, for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, windows, bathrooms, kitchens, carpets, furniture and exterior walkways. Duties and Responsibilities: Clean and mop assigned areas daily Clean, mop and stock restrooms as needed Dust horizontal surfaces 2-3 times per week Empty all outdoor trash containers daily Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings and events Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools as needed Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure buildings when facilities are not in use, checking for unlocked doors and windows; turn off lights Keep grounds free from trash and litter Report needed repairs to supervisor Know and follow all safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Ability to work well on a variety of tasks under general supervision Knowledge of basic cleaning and housekeeping methods and processes Ability to follow instructions on the use of chemicals and supplies Strong oral communication skills; bilingual ability preferred Experience Required: Custodial/maintenance experience in a commercial/school setting a plus Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to stand, stoop, reach, and bend. Mobility of arms to reach, dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate large and small objects Ability to stand for long periods and walk long distances Ability to lift, push and/or pull objects (up to approximately 50 pounds) Ability to read small print Ability to work with and in the proximity of equipment with moving mechanical parts Ability to work outdoors in a physically demanding environment Ability to work around loud noise Compensation: Grow Academy offers competitive compensation based on background and experience.
